When Not to Use a Polarizing Filter

Polarizing filters are a handy tool to have in the bag as a nature/landscape photographer when you want to add pop to your sky, slow your shutter speed or cut out reflections.  You need to know when to use them and when NOT to use them.  For today's post I am going to show an example of what happens when you try to use a polarizer on a wide angle lens.

As you can see using a polarizer on a wide angle lens (this was shot at 11mm on a crop sensor camera) can cause uneven tones and ruin your shot.  When using a wide angle lens it's better to just expose to make sure you don't blow out any of the highlights and make the sky pop later in post processing.
